I'm back, I suppose; summer has been full of triathlons and Anchorage, AK, and as such, haven't been updating the blog. Winter running season will fulfill this purpose though, as the only competitions I'm going to be entering are running competitions, and I need to get my running back on track. This race was alright; I did my run coming off a huge PR on the 40k bike (1:04:47, despite a big crash, and a pure time loss of 1:00, probably a 1:30 effect on my overall time based on being shook up). Race was a 2.4 mile out and back followed by a 1.4 mile trail run. Was fine until the last quarter mile, actually had to walk for a couple of minutes, as my quads were killing me. A function of only running 20mpw the last 3 months, I fear. Passed five people until the walking, and got passed by 4 of them after starting to walk. Oh well; I'll get'em next season! Tri as a whole went well; went 2:16:42, a PR of 7 minutes over the Olympic distance! |
